TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME! BUT FIRST...

YOU MUST READ THIS PAGE AND CONSENT TO PROCEED WITH SIGN-UPS!
Let’s get down to what you need to know about what’s in store for 2023 Baseball and Softball with Overton Youth Sports.

1) In-person sign-up dates are each Saturday in February in the Overton Middle School Gym. ONLINE Registration is available now and ends Sunday, March 10th. THERE WILL BE NO REGISTRATION ACCEPTED AFTER MARCH 10th. NO EXCEPTIONS!

2) Payment is due at the time of registration. If you need assistance, speak to the representative at sign-ups. We understand that not all situations and circumstances are the same, and OYSA would never want a child to miss the opportunity of playing ball. While we do offer payment plans, we need all fees paid in full by March 10th or we cannot order your child’s uniform!

3) We MUST have a birth certificate on file for your athlete prior to the season starting. We have capabilities of scanning and copying birth certificates at sign-ups so we can give the original back to you there. If we don’t receive a birth certificate, your child will be ineligible to play. All ages and birth dates will be checked to be sure your child is eligible for the age division they are placed in. Eliminating any possible issues with birth certificates prior to season starting is crucial to providing parents, athletes, coaches and teams with a smooth season.

4) All players MUST be 5 by August 1, 2023 to begin playing T-ball with any Dixie franchised team. Due to our insurance regulations, this is the set age requirement for OYSA.

5) Your child must live in or attend Overton Independent School District. If you have questions about this, please let us know at sign-ups. This is a real issue and has caused many teams to not be able to participate in Dixie Tournaments.  Fraudulent addresses will not be tolerated or permitted. This becomes unfair to the team you are on and the opponents. *The only exception to this rule is if your child resides in a district that does not offer Dixie Softball or Baseball.

6) WE NEED VOLUNTEERS. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS. Everything OYSA does is for non-profit. The heart of our organization is solely based off of volunteers. Coaches, field maintainers, concession workers, facility maintainers - they're all volunteers. We need YOUR help. The more people we have involved and helping, the better our organization will be for our parents and kids.

7) If not enough athletes sign up to make a team in a certain age group, registration money will be refunded.  ALSO, if a team is unable to find a coach (must be able to pass a background check), the team will not make and money will be refunded.

8) If the number of athletes signed-up on a specific age group exceeds the amount allotted for one team, players in that age group will be entered into a common draft. The coaches of that age group will conduct a draft based on mutual agreement. The results of the draft will be board approved.

9) Best for last...COST. Registration is $110.00. This covers (not limited to):
        - Concession costs such as cook & refrigerating equipment/maintenance, occasional paid
workers (due to lack of volunteers), cleaning supplies, etc.
        - Umpires (average cost for umpires is $60 a game; we host an average of 30 games)
        - Dixie Franchise Fees
        - Insurance for each child for the entire season
        - Practice equipment such as game balls, practice balls, catcher’s gear, bases, maintenance
          of pitching machines, etc.
        - Field maintenance such as lawn mower servicing yearly, repairs to fields, base anchors, grass
seed, weed killer, ant killer, water hoses, fill dirt, fence repairs, etc.

Unfortunately, registration hardly puts a dent in the cost to run OYSA Baseball/Softball. This is one of the many reasons why donations and volunteering are so important. Our facilities remain open to the public year round. While OYSA is happy to leave our facilities exposed year-round, this also leaves us extremely vulnerable to acts of vandalism which add to the costs of maintenance. OYSA assumes full financial responsibility for maintaining the fields so we want to help make parents and donors aware of where their money will be allocated as transparently as possible.
